Hallo!
I'm looking for work in (preferably) Berlin within the coffee/cafe industry for next year. I'm from New Zealand, and as such I speak only a little German. I am studying it at the moment, but as you must know if you can read this, learning a foreign language isn't something that happens quickly. As such, I can't do the normal cafe-managing/barista work I do in english-speaking countries, since I can't converse freely with customers or other staff. What other work in the industry would someone speaking only limited German do? obviously roasting is one option, which I can do- but roasting jobs only come up every so often. Would it be impossible for a barista trainer to train in English? I have plenty of knowledge and skill that would be useful, I'm certain of that- but how much of a problem would the language barrier be in gaining employment?

Try it at bonanzacoffeeheroes ( http://www.bonanzacoffee.de ). Kiduk is member of coffeegeek and english speaking, I guess he can help you best since he also knows some roasters in Berlin.
