Hi!
I'm living in Gothenbourg and I would like to share some recommendations regarding coffe places in my home town.

One of them is located in the central part of town. It's called Bar Centro. If you stand otuside NK (which is a well store in Gothenbourg) facing the entry of the store. Go right and go left on the first road you cross. On the right hand side you will find this place.

The second is called DaMatteo (more known as Espresso). This is more difficult to find. It's located in a place called "Victoria Passagen". "Victoria passagen" is located between the streets "Vallgatan" and "Södra Larmgatan".

The third is a new place called "Nöller". It's located in the old town of Gothebourg. The area is called "Haga" and this area is worth going to. You will find this place at one end of the main street in Haga. Look after the "Illy" sign. Their espresso is getting better and better. It's not perfect, but good.

Yes, these are probably the best places to get a decent espresso in Gothenburg. Another question: Where do I buy the freshest beans in Gothenburg? I have tried several shops and realised that the beans were old (or at least older than they stated) when I got home.. I really envy all people here who have "Sweet Marias" around the corner.... Why don't we start a similar company in Sweden ;)

Hi!
I have the same problem whit finding fresh beans i Gbg. I find it a little funny because there are so many dedicated espresso bars but no one offering fresh beans. Which is essential for the perfect cup.

Check the "espresso" - movie here:

Is this from one of the coffee bars you recommended? If so, then I would recommend buying some of the beans he has in the background. It is probably whole beans packed in bags with a one-way valve.

Hi!
That´s right, the movie is from Bar Centro. And youre right, the beans in the background are packed in bags with one-way valve. The beans are excellent. But I want to try different types of coffee beans and I think it´s difficult to find different beans packed in a good way. Especially if you don´t want to buy a whole kilo of coffe beans. I prefeer to buy a maximum of o.5 kilo. I know that my "complaints" are academic. My hopes are that someone selling beans get inspired and will offer several different types of beans with a good handeling.

I would recommend getting into home roasting. Get a popper and some green beans and start from there. You won't regret it.

Do you think this popper will do the job? Popper from "Teknikmagasinet"

I really looks like a rebranded Poppery II LINK

Probably. Be aware however that it must have a specific chamber design. Also, you will probably have to do the "illy can mod" on it like I have done with mine. You'll find a description and picture of it somewhere in my blog. Sigh, I really should find some kind of search engine to use with my blog.

Found the picture :)

It looks like the same popper model to me. Did you do any further electrical modifications on it?

By the way, nice "blog". Maybe a future candidate for www.kaffenörd.com  ;)

No, no electrical modifications. Just the illy-can to get the temp up and to prevent the beans from flying out of the chamber :)
