I have recently returned from a trip to Rome where I visited the much aclaimed coffee shops close to the Pantheon, namely Cafe D'Oro & Cafe St Eustachio. My coffee experience in both establishments was excellent. I did not think I would find anything on a par back home but I was wrong. I have just visited a wonderful wholesale & retail tea and coffee specialist in Lancaster, Lancashire, namely J Atkinson & Co. The proprieter Ian Steel made me most welcome & although at the time of my visit he was very busy with roasting coffee he found time to chat to me about his very real & genuine coffee passion. I enjoyed savouring an espresso (thank you Karen for looking after us so well - the espresso you made was superb)which to my mind and without any doubt topped my Italian coffee drinking experience. I have no hesitation in recommending Atkinson's. If you are lucky enough to be able to visit Lancaster they can be found in China Street otherwise their web site is www.atkinsonsteaandcoffee.co.uk.
