I went into the Scooters at Village Point today (168th and Dodge) and all they have in there is regular size paper cups so no double espresso for me. Didnt feel like a latte or a capp...

well taht sucks, the Scooter's in bellevue had porcelain (not paper/styro) cups. There's also a Barista's Daily Grind somewhere, like 184 and pacific (I think, i'll give you a link) and a barista from barista's daily grind got 4th in the nation.
We went to the trouble to make the trip, went to 3 coffee shops - the one in York (espresso or coffee beings), and Barista's Daily Grind (got a latte, they couldn't find any porcelain cups for espresso), and Black Sheep.
The latte in York was pretty good, could have used more espresso, but it was drinkable. The latte at Barista's was (again) incredible. And I got an espresso at Black Sheep that was drinkable but not amazing. I bought some of their espresso blend though, and it's fantastic. Bright, creamy, spicy, kinda harsh, persisting aftertaste.

Just found this thread through a forum search, so nobody may ever read this but...
I'm in Kearney. I'm a big fan of Barista's Daily Grind (my daughter was one of their earliest hires). They do things right, both from a coffee/espresso standpoint and from an atmosphere/experience standpoint. As many here already know, their trainer, Ryan Dennhardt is one of the top barista's in the country (he just won the Midwest Regional this past weekend).
I bought some green beans from Black Sheep before they closed up shop. I understand that they are reopening (or at least operating through) the Thunderhead (one of our two local microbrews). So the award-winning Espresso Stout is supposed to be back. I roast with a modified Poppery II (separate switches on the two heating elements and the blower motor on a transformer/dimmer switch - which gives me a lot of control over conditions). I finally found a mint original Poppery and will probably modify it, as soon as I get the chance.
I'm kind of a weird one in that I have the extremes on the grinder scale: A Zassenhaus hand-grinder (151 Beech) which is great, and a professional dosing Rosito Bisani RR45 that was replaced from the local Barista's Daily Grind. I'm playing around with the AeroPress, which is an extremely interesting device.

Somebody did read it Cheeky. I'm in Lincoln and have been doing retail coffees for 8 years now. Great to hear that a fellow Nebraskan won the Midwest Regional. I'm actually looking for people in Omaha who want to meet together to talk about and drink coffee. Anybody in Omaha interested? I'd like to check out all the spots in Omaha that serve or roast coffee.
Nebraskan Ryan Dennhardt is competing at Nationals right now (representing for not just Barista's Daily Grind, but the entire State of Nebraska!?). **No pressure, Ryan** : )
His Midwestern Regional win gave him a pass directly to the National semi-finals. He was docked for being overtime and apparently missed qualifying for the finals, but an appeal was made (which he won). Reviews of the tapes showed that Ryan was waiting on the judges and the overtime was due to their performance, not his. He is in the finals (sitting in the final spot, 7th) and scheduled to go in about 75 minutes.
I hope he gets a fair shake from the judges in the finals. Go Ryan!
