Catalina Coffee has installed a Synesso machine (!!!)

I understand that they will offer free shots this Saturday (October 11th) to celebrate.
Personally - I may not be able to wait until Saturday to try them out.

Once again Max raises the bar in Houston.

Good show!!

Wish someone in Memphis would do that.  Free or not, I'd give them a try.  But Houston is a little far for me.

I was there on Monday (I think), and the Synesso is indeed very shiny and makes lovely shots.  They've put it on the new side bar so it's a lot easier to watch the goings-on and bug the baristas.

Due to the local Whole Foods' distributor no longer carrying Pacific Soy (grr), I'm taking an unofficial break from home espresso and using my Aeropress.  Max has roasted some really, really nice coffees lately, especially this El Salvador Finca Alaska (whut? I dunno, I never got around to asking) that is just phenomenal!

Hey JonR,

Thanks for the promo. I am really horrendous at the advertising and pr side of the business, but I am glad that there are others picking up the slack for me. The Synesso is installed and working wonders for the coffee. We thought we were pulling good shots on the FAEMA Legend, and I think a few others thought so as well, but the thermostability on the Synesso has really opened up the espresso and we are tasting things that were masked on the heat exchanger. The FAEMA has got a special place in my heart, after all, it was manufactured for us in Milan in 03/2007, but the technology just doesn't compare to such a great machine as the Synesso. So, if anyone wants a 3 group Legend, I will make you a great deal...............

Bill Giffen with Hopson Coffee is doing a great job roasting Gunslinger Espresso for us, and I am glad that we can finally profile it to it's maximum potential.
