A new shop just opened up in Howell MI called Teeko's. I went in on opening day on my way to work. Just had a cup of coffee so I have not tried their espresso yet but the coffee was fresh and not over roasted. The do roasting in store and decided to pick up a pound because my fireplace where my hottop stits was still filled with ash from a new years eve fire. I picked a bag of Brazillian and noticed it said green beans on it. Turns out that although they will be having roasted bags for sale they are looking to do most of their roasting while you wait. They have a nice little bar over by their air roaster and I was able to sit and enjoy my cup of coffee while they roasted up my order. Talking to the owner he wants to be able to not only roast to the bean but also to the customers taste. My Brazillian turned out between City+ and Full city which is where I generally like my roasts. I am looking forward to trying their espresso. The Owner told me he is looking put in a La Marzocco Strada machine and put in a pourover station for higher end coffees. I am hopefuly that a bit of coffee civilization has finally come to this part of Michigan.

That's pretty awesome, I grew up in Grand Rapids (West Side I know) and have followed the progress of Madcap (http://madcapcoffee.com/) and Rowster (http://rowstercoffee.com/). Seems to be the trend to open a coffee shop with in-store roasting capabilities. Still have the owner's name/contact info?
Would love to reach out to him and learn more about what he's doing with Teeko's.

Nice to find this here. I live right around the corner from Teeko's and pass by it every day. I was wondering about them but couldn't find a website. I will probably stop by there on my way home from work tomorrow. It will be nice to not have to drive to Plymouth for some fresh beans.

Hey guys, just checking in/first post. Has anyone had a chance to try Teeko's? When the weather's nice, I'll have to include it in one of my motorcycle/espresso rounds.

I love seeing new businesses open up locally, especially coffee houses. Too bad it's an hour away, I'll have to stop by sometime. I'm roasting at home, but I'm always looking to try more coffee roasted well.

Another good one in MI, if your in the Rochester area try http://www.dessertoasiscoffee.com . We stay in Rochester and found this little place down town, don't think they ship yet though. Coffee was good, think we bought the Salvador and used for drip. Bought a bag for fiances family to try vs their normal Charbucks beans, couldn't believe the difference lol.
