I gotta give a plug for a place called Roma Coffee Co. down on 135th & Antioch.
I just moved back to the Kansas City area in the past month and while in the process of unpacking and waiting for my new Andreja, I found this shop. I stopped in a couple of times for a drink and some beans, and must say I was very impressed with Joe & his cafe. If you're in the area I'd recomend stopping by.

On behalf of the staff at Roma, Thanks for the plug and the kind words.
We've been open for about 5 months now and business is doing well. I think there are a lot of people looking for a local coffee shop that puts out consistently good product. Thanks to the great staff, owner, and suppliers (Zoka), we can say, so far..so good. Again thanks!

Hey, nice to see more folks from Overland Park on the board! I have lived here for 2 years (relocated from Connecticut) but I buy my daily cup at Broadway Cafe in mid town KCMO since that's near where I work.
I have been to Roma and I plan to stop back to see how it's going. I was there when they were starting and I got the impresssion they hadn't settled on a particular blend yet. I look forward to stopping back. The place was very interesting; nice wall mural, friendly staff and even a WIFI connection for patrons!

Post the JCCC jam info here and I'll try to make it. I'll definitely be at the barista jam at The Roasterie. I can't wait to meet some coffee geeks in person! I just got my ebay La San Marco up and running and it''s pulling incredible shots, but my wife can only take so much of my babbling about adjusting the pump pressure, descaling the valves and rich red-brown crema... so I need some espresso fiends, uh, I mean friends who understand.

That is too cool. I am looking forward to trying going somewhere that doesn't serve coffee from either the Roasterie or PT's. Not that there is a problem with the Roasterie's or PT's coffee (PT's is better of the 2 imho,) but it's nice to have a little more variety.
I am always interested in visiting "the competition", though I will never be a real competitor to shops in OP or KCMO.
