Chef Peter Reinhart, CCP from Johnson & Wales University will be doing the Chrlotte Talks show hosted by Mike Collins. The show will include a tasting at S&D and I believe some conversation with the Java Passage folks . I know Chef Reinhart has spoken with the Counter Culture people also. This radio talk show will be March 18th from 9 to 10 AM on WFAE 90.7. In conversation with Chef Reinhart he expressed his desire that CG's call into the show and he especially was especially interested in talking to the various home roasters in the area. WFAE.org streams all of their programming so geeks around the world should be able to now burn their ears as well as their beans.  We all talk on the 18th.

Thanks for the info 187, I'd be interested in attending the actual live broadcast at Founder's Hall for that one.

What do you think? Maybe a local geek-get-together?

I spoke with Peter again briefly today, and he's looking forward to hearing from you guys! He was shooting part of a TV Documentary in our part of town and stopped by. He's also spent some time with Dave Haddock from Counter Culture, and I believe they've also talked about the idea of doing some things together next April when the SCAA come to town. That convention plus the National Barista Championships would be another great opportunity for the Coffee Geeks to increase visability!

This is great! Imagine what kind of publicity a world reknowned establishment such as Johnson and Wales could do to promote and enhance the exposure of coffee culture as a culinary art and science.

I wonder what, if any coffee science is taught to their student body. This would be the sort of grassroots (for lack of a better word) movement to expose chefs and hospitality managers to specialty coffee, hopefully ingraining it as a fundamental component of culinary arts instead of something to be learned only if you wound up in the coffee biz.

As a sidebar, Bob what do you think about having a Geek-together at Java passage sometime?

Yea talked to David H. the other day and he said he was going to be interviewed on it.  I didn't realize it was a live broadcast, I might have to pry myself out of this office and get down to it.

Hope you downtown-livers-and-lunchers are doing well.  I'm swamped with day work, lease work, bank work..

It's live but not public. The last I heard was that the broadcast was from the studio.
