I am Sandy Andina, coffee geek and folksinger/songwriter from Chicago. My sisnging partner Susan Urban and I have a duo called "Sass!" We play our trad-folk-style originals (humorous and serious) as well as some traditional covers on guitars, dulcimer, and banjo. We are going to be playing the Cape Fear Folk Festival in Wilmington, NC on Fr. May 6 and Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA on Mon, May 9. We are looking to play coffeehouses enroute from Chicago (we leave late on the evening of 5/4 and expect to be overnighting in the Charleston, W.VA area on 5/5) and between Wilmington and the DC area for Sat. 5/7 and Sun. 5/8. For those, we are looking at the Chapel Hill, Raleigh/Durham, Cary, Richmond, and Shenandoah Valley areas, though we would not mind another DC-area show. We have a tentative Cleveland house concert lined up for the return trip 5/10--but would prefer a coffeehouse if possible. Please e-mail me if you would like to book us--we'll overnight a press kit/CD to you--and/or if you know of a place in these areas you think we should play (and might possibly convince the owners to have us play). Pass-the-hat/tip jar gigs are fine.
I'll be sure to play my song "Caffeine!"

I don't go here for the coffee, although their drip is palatable, but they run a great cafe' and the atmosphere is excellent for acoustic-ish folk music.......Highly recomended for their focus on the music and their audiance's appreciation for the artists.

oh yeah......
If you do swing through the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area...ya gotta stop at Geoff Cory's place Pheasant Creek Coffee. His new LM-hybrid is pumping out the best espresso of any shop in the area. And if your here on a Friday morning, feel free to join us for the our weekly Espresso Geek Lab at 7:30AM.

My singing partner contacted Six String Cafe, but we haven't heard back from them and need to follow up. They do tend to focus on more famous touring acts as well as locals with a following, so we will be very pleasantly surprised if we hear back from them. I just wrote to Pheasant Creek, and they may have the Saturday we need open, so stay tuned...

i'm not sure if you wanted to try places in South Carolina but in Greenville, SC you will find ALOT of coffeehouses (too many to name). Greenville has a street called "Coffee Street." anyway you can just do a search for coffee houses in google.
