Does anyone know a local roaster in the Dover, Portsmith area of NH? Trying to help my son-in-law out. I have him teetering on the edge of home roasting now. I got him off the drip and he now swears by the FP. And says home roasting has been in the back of his mind. Maybe after he goes home with a couple more pounds it will push him over the edge to the dark side.

Seconding this question. I live in Salem NH and have to go to Massachsetts to get reasonable beans. There is a Peet's near where I work which is all good, but I need more options. Any suggestions?

The cafe I work at presently gets all its coffee from a roaster called Java Tree, somewhere in the old Mill District of Manchester NH. I think their main business is with cafes, but it's worth searching them out to see if they sell to the general public. We've been very happy with them at work. We sold Seattle's Best brand coffee until that company grew too big to care about little places like ours (and got sold to Starbucks no less). Now, SB did a good job, but since we switched to Java Tree our customers have been almost unanimous in telling us that the change was for the better.
Perhaps they tend to roast a little on the dark. It suits what most our customers want in a drip coffee, though.
Also in NH is The Black Bear Micro Roastery. http://www.blackbearcoffee.com/ I don't know where Tuftonboro is, and I can't vouch for their quality. But that's two roasters for you guys, maybe, to check out.

Check out Breaking New Grounds in Portsmouth. They carry a lot of coffee that get possitive reviews on coffeegeek. Try the Rawanda Karaba or Nicaragua coffee. Both are out of this world. They may sell green too.

Though I admit to knowing the owner well. I give a confident endorsement for the micro-roaster Breaking New Grounds.
I personally would ask them what their lighter roasts are. First and foremost, I'd recommend trying the Cup of Excellence coffees, most of their Centrals, and Kenyas (Yirg too, but in a couple months).
