I am an espresso n00b (just bought my first machine) and I'm looking for someplace I can get fresh roasted beans in the state of CT. Preferably a shop that roasts thier own. Any advice?
Where are you in CT? In New Haven, there is Willoughby's. In glastonbury, there is DayBreak. In Avon there is Coffee Trade. In Harford, there is Jojo's, that's me. There are other small roasters that are not in a shop environment, I think one is Ashlawn Farm in Lyme, and another is Independent Coffee in West Hartford.
Hi, just saw your post. I'm not up and running yet, but hope to be this year roasting in CT. You can get great freshly roasted beans from "coffee tea etc" located in Goshen, CT. they have a website. After ordering their beans for a year, I finally delved into home roasting and wanting to start my own business. Great quality and super fast delivery

how is the espresso blend from willoughbys? I'd love a local place i can just drive to and pick some stuff up! i havent had much but like northern italian blends, and redline.. thx!
Fuel in New Haven sells freshly roasted beans from New Harvest roasters; the espresso is superb; great crema. I recently learned there is another roaster in the New Haven area, Jamaica Gourmet Coffee Co. with offices in New Haven and a roasting facility in North Haven. They are well established and apparently have a good variey to offer. Ashlawn farms has great coffee too, and they use the same roaster that I have, an Ambex.
I'm still in development here and making up blends to see what produces the best cup. Just tried a pretty good espresso using a blend of Central American (60%), Sumatra (25%), Harrar (15%) that I've liked the best thus far. True Italian espresso blends can have 16 different coffees in them....perhaps someday.
