Subject: Artifact Coffee in Baltimore

A new coffee bar just opened in Baltimore, Maryland - March 9 or thereabout. It's already gaining notice, so perhaps it deserves its own topic instead of being buried in the Coffee in Baltimore thread.

Artifact Coffee
2010 Clipper Park Rd.
Baltimore, Maryland
410-464-8000

The shop is distinguished for offering quality coffee drinks the moment the doors opened, and for partnering with consummate coffee professionals (Counter Culture Coffee). My main problem with this place is that I probably will have gained a few pounds by the time I've visited ofen enough to have made my way through the drinks menu.

I don't know all the ownership, but at least two of the owners are Spike Gerdje and Nelson Carey. I don't know of Mr. Carey, but Mr. Gerdje is a Baltimore chef with a well-deserved notable reputation. Artifact Coffee is the first of what eventually will be a three-business complex including Woodberry Kitchen, a restaurant, and Woodberry Hall, a meeting/event room.

Light rail users: get off at the Woodberry station and walk through the arch just west of the tracks. Artifact is a block or so up the road, its location announced by a sign on the side of its building. Stop by for a double shot on your way to work!

Drivers: go the corner of Falls and Union, or Buena Vista and Union. Drive west across the light rail tracks into the development, which is still being built out on the site of one of the old Jones Falls mills. I'm a pedestrian, so I have neglected to note parking accomodations, but I guess it's there somewhere.

This discussion began with an alert from the ubiquitous Ryan Jensen in the Coffee in Baltimore thread. Other coverage is developing at Chowhound.

its a quality place and the Woodberry Kitchen will probably awesome as well.
