Subject: Espresso in Durham, NC?

I've been searching around on CG and haven't found any recent posts.  CCC is right down the street from my hotel, but they're not a cafe.

HELP!!

I tried looking for Shade Tree, and I don't think they exist, phone disconnected, website gone.

Is there anything good out here?  I'm used to Ritual, Paradise, Verve, PTs; Roasters like these guys.

Thanks for any help.

check out joe van gogh on broad st. in the historic west durham section. it's right new to a restaurant that specializes in all-local cuisine, which is pretty badass.
the last time i was in durham, i stopped in and they had some single origin ethiopia yirgacheffe espresso. but generally, they are pretty rad.

FYI... Counter Culture has an open cupping at 10am on Fridays. I'm there for the informal "espresso lab" that begins 7:30ish and runs until 8:30ish. There's usually leftover coffee from the formal lab on Thursday night that will otherwise go to waste (wink, wink). No need to call, just show up.

I went to 3 Cups in Chapel Hill.  They Serve CC and it was great.  I had a press of Misty Valley!

I recommend 3 Cups, it's a great little shop.  No espresso bar, but fun retail section.  I bought myself a vac pot for $35.

Good Job guys.

Parker & Otis in downtown Durham has two of the best baristas in the region, and they're pulling Toscano really well these days.

Watts Grocery, fantastic.  One block north from Joe Van Gogh.

The African place next to Joe Van Gogh is pretty good too, but a different kind of place (cheaper).
