Hi guys,

i'm leaving to Boston next week, and i was wondering if i can meet some people that works with specialty coffee in Boston area, to be more specific-cafeterias. I conceder myself as a good barista, and would like to share some knowledge about coffee, i'v been working as a Barista for 3 years now, won a second place in Serbian Barista Championship. My first trainer was Valentino Q. Sergi  from Italy and then i trained with Soren Stiller Markussen, barista champion of Denmark.

So, if you know some good cafeterias (not Starbucks please:)), it would be great to share it with me so I could visit them...:)

Thanks...!!!! :)

A few to consider would be Barismo (roaster in Arlington with a small, stand-up cafe), Simon's (cafe in Cambridge that serves Barismo coffee and sometimes some other guest beans), and Pavement (cafe in Boston, haven't been there but it was recommended by the barista at Simon's when I was there).

Hopefully someone actually from the area can chime in as well.  Enjoy the visit!

I've been to both Simon's and pavement - both are phenomenal.

Simon was there when I visited and I had a good conversation with him about the coffee. Worst part about the trip was I was in a rush to make a train, so only had about 20-25 minutes to enjoy a couple caps and espressos (they had two espresso blends to choose from pulling at the time - i had to try both).

Pavement is also excellent - I have been in there 2-3 times now, and try to make a point to get there when I have to travel through Boston. They have rotating offerings and don't seem to have a specific roaster they relate with - they were pulling shots of Amoro Gayo from Matts wood roasted coffee in maine one time I was there, and I think they had black cat from Intelly another time. Definitely worth the trip!

Enjoy :)

Simon's is great, the only shop nearby that I will go to.  But after finding out about Barismo I don't get my beans from anywhere else.  Barismo is mainly a roaster but you can get espresso and pourover drinks at their shop.  They sell all kinds of Hario equipment.

Another new roaster/shop opened in Medford this year: Mystic Coffee Roaster.  Their prices are reasonable and they favor Fairtrade and Organic certified coffees as well as UTZ, Rainforest Alliance and Bird Friendly.
