oohhh will have to check these places out... too bad they are quite far from me. but, i guess you gotta do what you gotta do for a good cup of coffee. i've been to the greenberry's down south in charlottesville and was pretty disappointed. heard that king street coffee out in leesburg was good though... will check out eventually and report back!

Would like to point out Baked & Wired, located in Georgetown (D.C.). Intelligencia and Stumptown served, Hario pour-overs and french press. Also have espresso bar but haven't tried any yet so can't comment on that. Half the shop is a bakery and the other half is coffee, very friendly owners and of course great coffee!

Misha's in Old Towne Alexandria. Hands down best. I unfortunately have moved from that area recently. Anyone have a bead on a good roaster/shop near Frederick, MD. I have been driving the 1 1/2 hours to Misha's to get a supply of beans. It's inconvenient and I was getting 10 lbs. and freezing it. Only now, I've learned it's not the proper way to do it.

Which blend at misha's do you do for espresso? the house? I just moved into alexandria, about 7 minute drive from Misha's.

I don't recommend Misha's for espresso at all. If you're going to try it, do yourself a favor and walk a half block up King St to Bocatto Gelato and get some Stumptown Hairbender, too.

Wish I would have gotten this before I traveled down to Misha's. Cool place, but underwhelming espresso -- have gotten two different half pound batches of the house, but man, they could have been from different planets.

I ordered some of redbird's blends that should arrive this week, but thanks for the tip on where to get stumptown. Just got my first machine and am running the coffee circuit trying to figure out what suits my fiancee and I best. Stumptown and intelligentsia are next up after redbird. Any other tips are much appreciated.

Ditto here. There is nothing “hands down best" about Misha's, other than the short walk to Bocatto Gelato.

Wow....I guess its all in the taste buds. I love Misha's. I haven't been there in a year but I can't imagine they have changed their rosting technique. Sorry you had a bad experience.
