It was a pleasure to meet you both today I wish it was a bit closer so I could get to and from my employment a bit easier but hey, thats what parties are for.   Let me get a bit more accomplished in my home and we can have our own little private espresso fest where we can bounce off the walls with some code brown or other flavor of the week.

Again great to meet you all.  I hope we can foster a Charlotte community that has a discerning taste as well as zaney brainyness. :)

Woo, got home and a surprise was in the mail.  Paradise Roasters Espresso Blend.   Played a wild guess with my grind setting and pulled a nice 25s 1.1z double.  Man.  Another good one. Oh yea.  This blend is like drinking chocolate.  Its got such a very velvetly feeling to it with a snap fresh clean finish.  A rich body that lets you look over the vista of roast while still keeping a bounty of earthy goodness.  Ooh look at me adulate.

Two thumbs up.

Oh yea I forgot to ask the owner, but which of Stockton and Graham's espresso roast were we sampling today?

Coffee not urgent . Don't roast if it is not convienent,I can wait. DPH is on south blvd just aside of Elder Art which is across the street from the pink condos. This means that it is in the first shopping strip on the left past the church going out of town from the freeway. Looking forward to seeing you again and don't forget to bring your food.

Milano Blend

Posted November 12, 2004 link

I picked up a 1/3# of the Milano after we left to give it a try. It's good and still reasonably fresh. It has a bit less body than either the code brown or counter culture's esspresso aficianado that I have in rotation right now. I'm not selling it short, I think I can make it better with some more practice. Honestly though, it won't reach the level of code brown or aficianado...

See y'all Friday

btw, I was at Counter Culture for an all day lab Tuesday, getting served killer cappuccino and pulling my own espressos on their 3-group La Marzocco. Jealous??

Well of course not.  That Milano is so much more a roast profiler than any organic lean.  I ordered 3lbs of code brown and a few other samplers (Kenya AA Muthiani & Papua New Guinea) for my family Thanksgiving reunion extravaganza.  Many convinced me to bring out the gear so I'll be loading the car with gooodies.

See y'all Friday

I'll be absent this friday.  I see if I can make an e/o/w idea.  My sister is opening her jewlery store tonight (Dilsey Coal off East) so I'll be having a little macchiato up there when we are done around 7-ish.

Oh heck yea I'm jealous but hey, in a week we'll all be up there for some grand fun.  My bit of exciting news for the week is I recieved my naked portafilter.  Its too early to tell in true taste trials since I need some fresh beans and all I'm sitting on are some aging blackcat & paradise, but the crema production is simply astounding.  Easily getting 2x the normal volume.  Like some say its a fragile crema, it goes down fast but if you are quick I think you can still utilize it in a milk drink.  We drank a few Paradise Espresso macchiatios last night and they had such a chocolatly velvety head.  I tried my hand this morning at a 3x basket and was unsuccessful.  I think I need to coarsen my grind to pack that much.
