The tamper base always rotates with the handle, unlike every tamper I've seen that disassembles when the handle is spun relative to the base. Hey, Eric "LedZeppelin588" should really like that! No Loctite, ever!  ;-)

Dan, you should spin left-handed like I do!!!  Always CW!!!  Anyways, where are the Espro tampers available.  I think I certainly need some "training".

First, I'd like to say that the feud between Terry and I has been resolved, and hopefully so have the tamper problems.

Second, I'd like to say the clicker tamp does the same.

Finally, I'd like to say that the reason my tamper didn't work (I think) is because EPNW had recently changed the style, so it has 3 screw-type-things going into the base, instead of a screw-on base.  It was supposed to rotate with the handle, but ended up not, and thus becoming loose.

Eric B,

I googled for "espro tamper" and got hits for 1st in Coffee, Visions Espresso Service, and Kitchen Universe. I think that a few other vendors may start stocking it for the holidays...

Eric N,

Sorry, my comment was meant only as gentle ribbing. Nate's closing commentary on the episode still makes me chuckle (link). It's good to hear that Loctite-gate has been addressed at the source. :-)

Dan, do they offer this for the La Marzocco machine I just bought for my shop (57mm ? I believe on the linea)

I did not see a size specs, and I will be gone on a fact finding trip for our new shop (and some rec time) the next 5 days. If they do, I want one.

Thanks, I'll ask my wife to look for a reply to this, and a link to buy one, if possible.

thanks

Bo

Bo, yes, it's available in 58mm. That's one of the most common tamper sizes for prosumer / commercial machines, including most LM baskets (details).

Subject: Krups Novo 3000 Premium

When Krups' marketing agency got wind of the EspressoFest, they offered to send some door prizes. How we could say no?

Below is the Krups Novo 3000 Premium. It comes with two portafilters, one for pods and the other for traditional espresso. Not shown in the photo below is the "auto cappuccino system" that sucks up milk and froths it right into your cup. I replaced it with the standard steaming wand. The information tag says the "crematic system ensures a thick, rich crema each and every time." I think that means a pressurized portafilter.

Some of you may recognize this machine from an episode of "Big!" That's the show where they build some huge machinery to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. While I was googling for background information, look what turned up:

Enter the Krups Novo by Mark Prince

So 1998 was the year I got back to using a pump driven espresso machine... the Krups Novo machine was a serious step up in quality...The Krups Novo was a complete steal of a price. When I mentioned it online, people tried to get me to buy a model for them.

..etc...

Unfortunately Mark won't be joining us, but we can take a little trip down memory lane with the Novo 3000 on his behalf. :-)
