Thought I'd start a new thread for this...
We'll be having our second (the first was discussed here) D.C. CoffeeGeekfest on Sunday, December 12, at 8:00pm, at murky coffee arlington (the former Common Grounds).
What's on the agenda? Well, first and foremost, you'll have an opportunity to pull shots on the first Synesso Cyncra in commercial use on the east coast... sample different espresso (B.Y.O.Beans!)... experience the wonders of the crotchless portafilter... try your hand at latte art (or show off your skillz)... see how many espresso beans you can fit in your nose... etc. Bring your own home machine if you wish as well.
We'll have other baristas and shop-owners from around the area joining us as well. All in all, we want this to be a social event for coffee enthusiasts from around the area.
So please RSVP by clicking HERE and we look forward to seeing everyone!

Sorry it took so long to post this, but I was so happy with how our get-together turned out.
We'll do it again in February-ish, with more specific objectives in mind. How about a giant espresso-tasting? We'll get beans from everywhere we can possibly source from and pull them on the 'Nesso and take notes and put together a report? Or a latte-art clinic? Maybe we'll start a new sport... espresso-wrestling (in the spirit of mud-wrestling... but with more caffeine). We'll start with onocoffee vs. javachik?
Seriously though... February it is, and reply to this thread with your preference, and we'll go with whatever wins the most votes (among those who will attend):
espresso tasting
latte art clinic
espresso-wrestling
bring-your-own-home-machine espresso-orgy
_____ write-in your idea?
BTW... we're sending three (hopefully) to the SouthEast Regional Barista Competition... wish us luck!

Latte art clinic, definitely; and a BYOBlend espresso tasting (perhaps with prizes for the best blends in different catagories). Maybe a signature drink competition?
