I will be in sacramento for a few days starting this wednesday on business. I'm staying at 12th and L. It looks like I am within walking distance to both Temple (10th & J/K) and Infusion (1628 K). But can someone confirm this for me. I"m attending a conference and I won't usually have alot of time to get my coffee fix. And the people I'll be with likely won't understand why I have to bypass the 15 Starbuck's along the way.
Do either of these places offer the option to sit down with a nice french press-full of coffee on those occassions when I do get a little time to sit and enjoy?
I know that Temple serves Barefoot (never had before, so I am excited) and that Infusion sells Zoka (I used to live in Seattle, so I have had this before).
What about a place called Naked Coffee at 1500 Q? I'm guessing that is a bit far from me, but I don't know how long the streets/ave's are. They roast their own, don't they?

Both locations are very close and within walking distance. Temple is much closer to the hotel, and will offer you a chance to relax in a classic bohemian coffeehouse setting. It is also doable on a 15 minute break. Infusion is a little further, but certainly walkable if you have a little more time. Likewise a nice place to chill and relax, though no french press. The bubble seats however are legendary. If you are here on Friday, I'd wager Pe_tah is working at Infusion and willing to represent. How 'bout it Peter?
Don't waste your time with Naked Lounge unless you like overextracted 4 oz doubles. And that would certainly be a hike. Sacramento doesn't have those big city blocks like Chicago, but it's still a little far.

I'm in town Wednesday through Saturday. just don't know when I will have the downtime. But I will definitely get to both places. The hotel gives free starbucks coffeebreaks for the meeting. I'm thinking I'll need a break from that after awhile.
Roughly how long would you think it takes to walk to Infusion?

We have french press. Any coffee that we offer we can grind it for you and make it sexy >=)
We have Guatamala, Sumatra, Yirg, maybe Costa Rica, and maybe something else. For blends we have a Col Fitzroy blend and paladino, also decaff.
From 12th and L it would probably take 10-15 minutes. the blocks arn't that long... similar to downtown seattle blocks. Yea, i work on friday starting at 5pm... so if you want to hang out and get wasted on caffiene that would be cool. If you can't make it friday at night, the other baristas will definitely do you justice... or will at least try to =)

Glad to hear you can do french press. I enjoy espresso, but I'm a coffee drinker at heart and just love sitting down with a nice, hot, black cuppa joe.
I'm definitely psyched for some Guatamalan -- I'm on kind of an America's kick right now -- been going through some Peruvian, some Columbian and now enjoying some Honduran from Intelligentsia.

jay, every time you talk to me over the counter, there is a french press in your face LOL. French press is on our menu. We've had it on the menu for a while now.

hey all,
I am back from my trip. was kept too busy to get out much. I did get over to infusion the first day (wednesday). Had some awesome guatemalan french press. Was great to just sit down after the flight and relax with a well-made, flavorful press. I brought along one of my co-workers and he totally dug it. We even did the tourist thing and sat in the bubble chair for a few minutes till we got claustrophobic. Peter, I asked for you , but you weren't there.
later there was a photo shoot with some GQ dude with his funky shirt undone almost all the way. Not really a coffee shop kind of look, but it was interesting to see it all happening.
Few days later I went to Temple during one short break. I had to get away from the big vats of starbucks that the hotel provided. Ironically, Temple was offering guatemalan as the drip of the day. I had a big one to go and a double espresso to chug before heading out. The shot was awesome and was just what I needed.
The coffee was good, but it isn't fair to compare their drip guatemalan that I drank from a to go cup with the stuff I had at infusion from the french press. Wish I had more time to have gotten it that way and really tasted the differences between the zoka and barefoot versions.
I also would really love to have either of these shops in Chicago. Both Infusion or Temple would be a definite hang out location for me. Really comfortable and clean. Temple had some great jazz playing when I was there.
Anyway, thanks again for the help. Wish I could have done some more serious taste testing, and met Peter, but I am happy that at least a few times I was able to get out to get some sweet tasting coffee and not have to drink that old, burnt, watery stuff they kept throwing at us at the hotel.
