I'm heading up to Alb to spend the weekend with a friend who's addicted to Starbucks. Since I can't drink Starbucks and I don't feel like visiting two different coffeehouses every day, I need to convert her. Anyone know of any QUALITY coffeehouses in Alb? She lives around SE Alb but really anywhere would be nice.

I've tried Napoli, who at the time was using a La Marzocco and Bratdorf coffee. Not sure if they're still around but they weren't bad. Is there just one coffeehouse that stands out from the rest?

El Cabong? Watcha think?

I am not a local, so you will have to wait for someone else to tell you the whole story, but I recently spent a few days in Albuquerque and can share my experience.  I was steered towards Satellite but was not impressed (they used super autos like starbucks).  I was also told to check out Winnings on Harvard, but I bought their espresso blend home and found it stale and overroasted.  But I happily stumbled on "Michael Thomas Coffee" on Carlisle, and was amazed ...  highly recommended. They roast on site and clearly know what they are doing.
