Oh, what a great day to be a coffeegeek!

Today I had a French Press of the last of my Cup of Excellence El Salvador #1 La Montana, courtesy of PT's Coffee.
Despite being roasted 2 weeks ago, it is still holding up strong.  Pulled a single origin macchiato using Ecco Caffe's Brazil Terezinha, also a COE coffee.  Amazing chewy mouthfeel, with a nice, savory nuttiness.  Went through that, so we threw in a little Stumptown Hairbender for a creamy smooth well rounded shot.  Did I mention the Ecco Idido Misty Valley?  Yeah, had that yesterday actually, but I just had to brag.  How I love my job.

How is all this possible?  Well, we've made some changes here at JavaJ.  Starting last week, we are no longer exclusively featuring Paradise. (Although they will likely still make the rounds as well).  Hey, why call it an "espresso bar" if you're going to put the same thing in the hopper all the time?  While we have occasionally featured guest coffees from a variety of roasters, we are now doing this FULL TIME.

So far, we have officially and unofficially featured coffee from PT's, Ecco, Stumptown, and Barefoot.  There are rumors of coffee from Ritual and Victrola circulating which can neither be confirmed nor denied.  And who knows what else?

Don't drink any coffee before you come and bring a lot of dough cuz you won't be able to help yourself.  I had the hairbender, the el sav. coe and the ethiopian he had on tap.  Unbelieveable as always but kinda like a coffee road trip all in one store.  So while it's not the same profile paradise has, that is my personal favorite, JavaJ hits another winner with his own version of a coffeefest.  J you never cease to amaze me.

i have friends and family in the bay area, sacramento, folsom, and chico.  on road trips i like to jog out of my way here and there for a good capp -- most often temple in sacramento since i lived in midtown for a while and it's a great shop.  i actually went to school in davis.  no good cafés then; anything changed?

Last week my wife and I were visiting friends in Sacramento and I got to visit JavaJ where I had two double espressos made with Ecco Caffè’s Northern Italian Organic Espresso Blend. It was pretty decent but not too interesting. I also had a SO shot which I liked a lot better.

After visiting JavaJ we drove 110 miles West past Nappa and through the wine country of Sonoma valley to Santa Rosa where we visited some more friends. In Santa Rosa I went to Centro where I had this 8oz latte and double ristretto made with Ecco Caffè’s Northern Italian Espresso Blend. I liked this shot better than the organic version I had at javaJ.

Gary,

While many people prefer the Nothern Italian Espresso from Ecco to the Organic Northern Italian Espresso, I am a big fan of the Organic.  As we had just changed over from one to the other, and both blends are new to us, we were still struggling to dial it in when you came in.  I think we've got it down now, so please come back soon and let us know what you think.
