Walked back towards the Moscone Center where I stopped by Blue Bottle cafe where I had this double ristretto. Bit disappointing. I can pull better shots at home.

After attending Semicon West for a few hours I took the BART to four barrel where I had this double espresso which was bright, fruity but not much complexity.

Last shot I had was this Sweet Tooth espresso which was very nice and fruity. Gabe told me that Ritual will soon get a Synesso so they can pull shots using pressure profiling.
So there it is. Plenty of things to do in San Francisco while waiting for Four Barrel to open.

Amongst other SF destinations, my wife and I went to 4 Barrel yesterday. Didn't ask what the blend was but it was very good. That alley is not all that bad. At least where the kiosk is. Was able to find parking where the alley intersects with 15th St. Then drove down to Ritual, found parking almost in front of the café and had their Sweet Tooth blend. Brought some of those beans home.
Note to GaryH: My wife and I have been following your cafe recommendations in the bay area for quite some time now. We've probably been to every café that you've reported on. Keep up the good work.

I made it to 4 Barrel this afternoon. I had a great Cap. I didn't have a happy ending to the story, but I want to say that the following had nothing to do with 4 Barrel, or anyone who works there. The Barista was very nice and very helpful, very friendly.
15th is a one way street heading west. I parked on the right hand side of the street a few parking spaces before Caledonia . It was broad daylight and there were a few people walking around. Valencia is a busy street and was clearly visible from where I was. I noticed 2 old tires on the side of the street taking up part of the space. I moved them out of the way. Not sure if this had anything to do with anything though. So I parked my car, walked the town to Caledonia and walked to 4 barrel. I noticed that there was some broken glass a few parking spaces away, but it's San Francisco, there is broken glass all over. I ordered my Cap and chatted with the Barista for a few minutes. It couldn't have been more than 10 minutes total. As I was walking back near my car I noticed that there was more broken glass. I looked up and of course realized it was my rear window, and it had been broken. I then realized that I had left all of my camera gear in a plain looking backpack on the back seat. I had taken the time to remove my GPS, scanner, and Palm pilot from the front seat and put it in the glove compartment. I carry my camera gear around with me a lot and normally keep it in the trunk, especially when I'm in the city, or at a mall or other parking lot. But I had just gotten back from trying to take some pictures in San Francisco, had my tripod and a lot of camera stuff on the back seat. I had planned to take pictures of the shop, but walked away without taking or moving the camera stuff. And so, it was all taken. It's a large list of equipment including a Canon 40D, 2 image stabilized L lenses, 10-22 lens, 17-55 IS 2.8, flash, all of my compact flash cards, all of my batteries. All expensive and all my favorite gear. Someone hit the jackpot today. I looked around and talked to people asking if anyone saw anything. Nobody, saw anything, not even the people who walked up after me. So again, not wanting to blame anyone but I wanted to caution anyone going there to be sure to lock everything out of sight in the trunk or bring it in. Obviously this is generally a good practice and should be followed all of the time, but since I got nailed on this street and saw glass there it may have happened before to someone else. Also the police were not helpful. I called as soon as I saw what had happened and they said I had to go to the police station and file a report. They wouldn't send anyone. After searching all of the surrounding streets and asking people if they saw anything, then calming down and waiting a bit, I was on my way back to the car and happened to see a police car driving by. I flagged him and he stopped and basically told me the same thing. He wouldn't write a report, I had to go to the police station, or better yet just go home and file online so I could list all of the equipment. I asked if he knew of anywhere specific I may check that might be selling my stolen gear, and he said nope he had no idea of anywhere. I put in some calls with my insurance and so far it doesn't look good. The auto insurance said they don't cover this type of theft, although they would replace the window. I need to check with my renters insurance. No I never took out that camera rider policy I meant to, just hadn't gotten around to it yet. Anyway the coffee shop was great. Just take some precautions with your cars and all should be ok.
