Hey Mike, your website says:

"We're working hard with day to day operations and re-modeling.
Watch for details about our Grand Re-Opening Soon!"

Is there an ETA?
I'm thinking I should make a trip across the river to check it out.
Keep us updated!

You live in Washington?  The "river" is 2,800 miles.  Hold your breath.  Good luck always.

Vancouver WA might as well be a suburb of Portland OR.  Literally a bridge between the two.  I'm pretty sure that the Hawaiian portion of the shop is thematic.  Correct me if I'm wrong, Mike.

Yes, Vancouver is considered a suburb of portland to everyone except people who were born and raised in vancouver who insist differently.  It's a suburb to me, but it is the 2nd largest city in WA, so it's got it's own scene.

I won't speak for mike directly, but it goes beyond just "thematics".  Mike has single estate Kona for espresso as an option in addition to another SO and his regular "ohana" espresso blend.  Not too many places in the area (including portland) have an SO as an alternate espresso, much less a Kona too boot.

I like the cafe for the most part.  Mike, keep us updated on the re grand opening.

In a Hawaiian themed coffee shop, I'd expect Hawaiian coffee!  It's part of the theme.  There ought to be a pineapple flavored drink, too, and probably Spam in some sort of coffee-form to be authentic, but hey, I'm just a Haole...

Psyd, I perhaps misunderstood what you meant by "hawaiian theme".  My point was that "hawaiian" has more to do with the coffee than the actual "theme" of the cafe.  You won't find any plastic coconuts, pineapples, and hula skirts strewn about.  The truth is, there really isn't any tacky hawaiian decor; the cafe is just that, a pretty "standard" cafe with decent coffee including kona coffee as a press and espresso option.  The menu itself isn't overly hawaiian either (no spam as I recall, although it has been a while for me).  Maybe the name is a little misleading.

I guess I should have said 'Hawaiian Coffee themed' as opposed to just 'Hawaiian'.  Yep, that's where I stepped wrong...
You misunderstood alright, but I'm thinking it was because I was way to generally vague.  But mostly just funnin' about the shorter trip than actuatlly going to Kona.  ; >
