I guess I should have said 'Hawaiian Coffee themed' as opposed to just 'Hawaiian'. Yep, that's where I stepped wrong... You misunderstood alright, but I'm thinking it was because I was way to generally vague. But mostly just funnin' about the shorter trip than actuatlly going to Kona. ; >
No, you were actually making point about my lack of accuracy. There is a world of difference between the two descriptions, but I do relish the ability to correct your spelling of 'semantics'! VBG!

Psyd, I perhaps misunderstood what you meant by "hawaiian theme". My point was that "hawaiian" has more to do with the coffee than the actual "theme" of the cafe. You won't find any plastic coconuts, pineapples, and hula skirts strewn about. The truth is, there really isn't any tacky hawaiian decor; the cafe is just that, a pretty "standard" cafe with decent coffee including kona coffee as a press and espresso option. The menu itself isn't overly hawaiian either (no spam as I recall, although it has been a while for me). Maybe the name is a little misleading.
FWIW indeed the company name mcKona Koffee was unintentionally misleading. Came about from years of online coffee play and nicknames I'd been given, mistake. Just finishing total rebranding to Nor'west Coffee Roasters. The Vancouver, WA 13th & Main location will still be known as Paradise Cafe having had that name for something like 8 years. Will continue to carry single Estate Kona(s) but there will no longer be mistaking Hawaiian coffees as the primary focus.
"We're working hard with day to day operations and re-modeling. Watch for details about our Grand Re-Opening Soon!"
Is there an ETA? I'm thinking I should make a trip across the river to check it out. Keep us updated!
As part of re-branding made the decision not to have a Grand Re-Opening per se. Not closing so not re-opening, or something like that! (Do have a press release about Vancouver's only Cafe Roaster going out this week.)
Starting this Saturday 11/15, Saturday's at 3pm we will be doing public cuppings. December is going to be "Panama Esmeralda Gesha Month" beginning early with cupping or tasting of Auction Lot 5 the last Saturday in November. It will also be the featured SO for shots, and one of the SO's offered for French Press to order and Pour Over to order December. (Should have 4 station pour over bar in a week a so.) Of course Esmeralda Gesha is available roasted whole bean too:-)
Hmmm, CGer discounts, not at this time. I'll think about it. We do offer "loyalty cards" which in effect give an 11% discount, buy 9 get the 10th free. Similar card for whole beans.
Shazam! Today had our FREE Panama Hacienda La Esmeralda Special Gesha auction lot5 tasting and none of ya'll showed up! I do believe free trumps 2 for 3, but what the heck.
If you want to come as a group sometime this month (or rather next month as in December) while we're featuring Esmeralda as our SO for espresso beverages as well as individual Beehouse station pour over or French Press to order no problem, sure I'll give you 2 for 3 no problem. Sorry, FREE was a one day affair:-)

Sorry, Holiday weekends are a S.O.B. for "me time."
I'll definately make an appearance this month.
If anybody is interested in joining up, I'm game anytime.
btw Mike, the 2 for (the price of) 3 promotion was in jest, that I'd be happy to over-pay to ensure the place was making a go of it. I would never insinuate, or ask, or expect any kind of special treatment or pricing.
