This is probably not 100% coffee related but here goes anyway ;-).

Alan Adler, the inventor of the AeroPress (http://www.aerobie.com/Products/aeropress_story.htm) will be talking at the Inventors Alliance group on the morning of Sat, November 14th in Menlo Park, CA. The topic will not be focused on his AeroPress but on inventing in general:

Alan Adler will teach you how to sell your product ideas regardless of your professional background by sharing his journey of how he went from mechanical engineer to successful Inventor and Entrepreneur.

The cost to attend (assuming you register in advance) is $25. You can get all of the details and register for this event at the Inventors Alliance website: Click Here (www.inventorsalliance.org)

And, in the interest of full disclosure, I am not a member of Inventors Alliance nor will I profit from anyone attending this event. I'm just another person paying to attend it to hear what he has to say (and I'm also interested in learning more about marketing inventions).

Have fun!
Larry.

I understand that Alan has over 40 patents under his belt.  I'd definitely pay to hear what he has to say if he came up to my neck of the woods.

Hi All,

Yes,  I will be speaking at the inventor's Alliance meeting.  But I did not write this,

"Alan Adler will teach you how to sell your product ideas regardless of your professional background by sharing his journey of how he went from mechanical engineer to successful Inventor and Entrepreneur."

I thought it a bit over the top and it has now been removed from the web page.

I will speak about my experiences in inventing and developing products.  I'll also budget plenty of time to take questions.

Best regards,

Alan

Alan,

I should warn you about one thing about the TechShop where we'll meet. Before your actual talk is the "Check-in & Networking" time (about 30 minutes) where they have some snacks and some coffee & tea available. But, the coffee is horrendous! It's free so it's not really all that fair for me to complain (well, since I'm paying to attend I guess I could consider it not free!). But, compared to coffee made in your Aeropress with some good fresh ground beans it's pretty bad!

And, just so you know I did not get that quote from the website. I took it from the e-mail notification I received from them. They must have sent it before you asked for them to change it.

("What, your coffee tastes like dirt? Well it should, after all it was ground this morning!" ;-)

See you at the meeting!
Larry.

Hi Larry,

Please be sure to identify yourself to me on the 14th.  I look forward to meeting you.

Yakster and I met for lunch and coffee talk a few weeks ago.  We discussed organizing a coffee "get together" in Palo Alto from time to time.  Let me know if you, or anyone you know of, are interested.

Best,

Alan

Alan,

Will do. In fact, we briefly met once before when you were doing a demo of the AeroPress at a coffee shop in Los Altos (sorry, I forgot the name of the shop). But, I doubt you'd remember me from then ;-).

We can talk about the get together on the 14th. It sounds like fun!

See ya at the talk!
Larry.

Hi Larry,

I do remember our brief meeting.  That was at Mr. English Coffee.  Unfortunately now closed.  Tom McBay returned to Japan and is doing well with Mr. English Coffee there.

Have you followed the fireworks here?

Wow, you have a really good memory! Considering how many people showed up there if the tables were turned I doubt I would have remembered any individual person who showed up! I'm impressed.

Sorry, I haven't been too active on this board lately and have not been following that thread. I've been unemployed all year and have been spending my time job hunting and starting my new business. In fact, I'm just now getting some content on my website (started on Monday) and still have a lot of work to go. I don't even have a shopping cart coded yet! You can see what I've got so far at via my URL at the bottom of the page.

Thanks!
Larry.

Hi Alan,

Just wanted to say thanks again for the intersting talk at the TechShop! I learned a lot more about flying discs than I ever thought I'd know ;-)!

Give me a call sometime for the next coffee gathering. And, if you ever have a few free minutes I'd love to get your feedback on my new product. I've actually sold a total of one unit.... to my teacher ;-). You can see about it in the URL in my signature. With your background I'm sure you'll have a unique perspective on it.

Thanks!
Larry.
