I would agree with Oregon being a nice place. The schools suck though. I lived in southern washington for about 5 years. It was a great place. Even there the prices are really going up, thanks to all those damn Californians! ;)
actually we moved up there from simi valley. I really like simi and would not mind living there again.
As far as So Cal you can still get a deal in corona i think . Riverside is a bit far and its starting to get spendy too.

I know what you mean about boulder and housing. I was just looking on the web. Damn!
I guess Ill have to move to the salt flats to get a house that one could afford.
I really dont know how a person can pay for a 600k house. Thats the whole pay cheack. Just not worth it to me.
As far as the so called experts...they didnt seem to see the last correction coming either. There is a low supply and high demand, but there is also a lot of jobs leaving the US. Gas is really high and pushing the cost of everything else up. In turn all those people who can barely afford their houses are going to loose their shirts.
A lot of finance guys are saying that its going to take about three years for all these people that went out and got some super expensive house because the rates were low are going to be assed out when they go back up.
It happens every time.

If you're ever a bit further north, Leucadia is a cool town, and Pannikin is the kind of place we all wish we had locally. Unpretentious and relaxing (it's in an old train station), and they've got some great grub.

After you get your coffee from Pannikin, walk up the street and check out Lou's Records - absolutely one of the best places to buy music in southern California!

RAS, I also noticed that you mentioned Cafe 222; that place also serves up a great breakfast!

I sure do miss San Diego, but I definitely don't miss the high cost of living, traffic and overdevelopment.  Would have loved to have been able to live there back in the day.

Bob

p.s.  Patrick - funny story about your Diedrichs visit!
