Steaming and pouring milk to make a nice tasting latte.

Is this the first Clover on a street cart? Nice Guatemala coffee. I bought a bag of roasted beans to take home.

Todd is a real nice guy. Enjoy the Remedy street cart while it lasts.

It may very well be.

Overall, I have been very happy with Remedy each time I visit . . . well, OK, except for the time they were closed.

Not hardly. AFAIK, 'Van Go' is the first carted Clover.  It's a bit more of a drive for you folk, but right around the corner for me...

Every day for for the past week I've been really enjoying the Ritual Guatemala Finca La Folie coffee as brewed on a press pot. I use 200F water and seep the coffee for 3'30". After that I scoop off the grounds floating on top of the coffee and press down the plunger. Now I've used it all up. Time to get another bag. Good price at $14 for 12oz.

So I'm bringing this post back from the dead with intention of bringing a couple place mores into the light (a general search didn't bring up a whole lot) as well as hidden motives that GaryH may come back with some more of his amazing pictures. I just started working on the new Kaiser building on Broadway (first job in two years) and so I have been on the search for coffee in the area as of recently. First of all, Subrosa has not seemed to get a lot of attention in the forums. This place was really cool. It reminded me a little of the tucked away Blue Bottle stand in Frisco. No sign out front, just a loyal fan base. They brew and pull Four Barrel and seem to do an amazing job at it. It is very close to Remedy, which I have not been to yet. Also, Bica which is not far, was wonderful. They boast to have everyone trained to SCAA standards and brew coffee from different "guest" roasters including Ritual, Temple, De La Paz, Flying Goat, Verve and Ecco. Oakland has become a potential destination to do a "crawl". Hint, hint Gary.

OK, OK I do it! Actually I already did a crawl in 2010. Click Here (coffeegeek.com)

Yesterday I visited the wine country, and to get there on my drive north I decided to stop in Oakland and visit Bica, Sub Rosa and Remedy.

This was my first visit to Bica. Espresso pulled using De La Paz Oscillations blend. Fruity, sweet, great acidity. Nice shot!

Next stop Sub Rosa. Espresso pulled with Four Barrel Friendo Blendo espresso. Sweet, syrupy, complex. Best shot in the entire Bay Area right here at Sub Rosa! The barista told me that the Latin phrase sub rosa means "under the rose" and is used in English to denote secrecy, just like the Sub Rosa coffee house which is a bit hidden and tucked away.
