The following weekend is Memorial day, so the next date would be June 4th (not that I ever really do much on memorial day morning...but seems some people might)

It's a great idea. Thank you for putting this together Russel. I will try and join you but generally early weekday evenings or early Sunday morning will not work for me with a 60-90 minute drive time from Orange County. If I can wrest it out of my brother-in-law's hands, I would be happy to bring the HC-600. I was using the grinder again this weekend and was still impressed by the quality of the grind. I love the home roaster exchange idea too.

OK, Demitasse is on board for Sunday, May 20th 8:00am to 10:00am. LA Coffee Club will be providing 20lbs of locally roasted beans for us to work with.
I'm working on the equipement line up. I'm trying not to let this become "Russel's coffee lab", and I'm looking for participants who can commit to bringing a grinder or a machine. So far the gear is:

I'm working on providing as much of the necessary accessories myself so as to avoid confusion and to prevent participants from having their various little things walk away. This includes cups, towels, knock boxes, pitchers, and possibly tampers (I'm not sure how to pull that one off, there's just no way that I'm brining my custom sized RB, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either).
In general, if you plan on coming please post here or email me. If you have any of the needed gear or some other bit of kit that you want to share, please get in touch so that I can get everything organized. Demitasse and LA Coffee Club are really excited about this, and if we can make it work, it will set the stage for other such events. I have an idea for a home roasting charrette(s) that would be killer.

the building is kind of a wedge shape and demitasse is as the start of the wedge.
At that time, there should be plenty of street parking and since it's sunday, you wont need to feed the meter. There is also a parking lot but i think they only offer like 1 hour with validation. If you want to use their lot, you'll have to enter into it through 1st street.

Sounds like a great idea. I've got a variety of vintage hand grinders, all of which can do espresso grind that I can bring along if folks are interested. Plus the Caravel Ursula if an open-boiler manual lever would be of interest. Or if we're overloaded on gear, I can save those for some future time.
