Has anyone tried Espresso Profeta in Los Angeles? A friend (who is a self-professed coffee idiot who would rather drink a strawberry smoothie) sent me this picture.

I'm back in L.A. for the weekend and staying nearby, so my wife & I stopped by this place this morning. Between the two of us, we sampled a shot, a Flat White, a Cafe Nico (sweet orange concoction), an Americano, an almond croissant (same delicious type they serve at Intelligentsia), and a toasted cheese bread.
Everything was excellent, a solid A, the space was lovely and had nice outside and inside seating areas, and I'll definitely go out of my way to come back. My wife says to mention they also have free WiFi, which some other top shelf L.A. cafes do not.

Indeed, my wife and I went back again on Saturday morning before driving back up north and I had a long conversation with Simon (one of the baristas) and Mitch about the place. Very cool guys.
While there, we consumed a couple of breve lattes, a shot, what they call an Italiano (shot with a couple oz. of water - I believe I've heard this called a Romano elsewhere), and a White Velvet (chocolate drink, delicious and not too sweet - perfect), all of which were star quality.
Oh, and they had another thing that a lot of 3rd wave shops don't and that I miss - coffee cards! I got half of my 10 stamps that day. :-) They also sell beans out of their own stock so if you want to pick up a pound of Vivace Vita, it'll certainly be fresh. All of the drinks were outstanding, in fact the shot I think maybe in my top 10 ever, and the space so nice, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Yes, we went today, and they're the real deal. David Schomer came down from Vivace in Seattle and did the training on site. My tea drinker wife loved the orange specialty drink (Cafe Niko, I think). My espresso and silky-sweet cappa were first rate.
Charming space, too. Perfect for after a visit to the Hammer/UCLA Museum across the street.
