I'm a former Oaklander who has been exiled to Orange County for several years but was blowing through town for a day and looked up some places to stop. Based on what I read on this forum, Cafe 504 was a place to check out. Well, I got here and found out that it had been closed for months and just re-opened a couple of weeks ago.
They now do Four Barrel. Now, I'm a drip guy, so no espresso review, but I loved the Kenya Gatomboya (press) and Guatemala San Agustin Las Canas (pourover). Really nice owner and a funky-cool vibe as befits this part of Oaktown. Anyway, if you're in the neighborhood, give 'em a try.
