I will be checking this place out, never heard of it. Looks like Google Maps says that location is Almaden Roasting... will be interesting, and they have good hours.

It used to be Almaden Roasting, which is evidently closed now. Avid is a Verve account and is run by a former Bellano employee, according to my best information. I haven't made it in yet because it's pretty far out the way for me.

I just checked out the website and it looks good. I go to Verve frequently when I'm in Santa Cruz so hopefully they do well. As I live in Hollister The most frequent place I get to in San Jose is the south side and coffee has been lacking (to my knowledge) on that end of town. I still want something decent to open up off of 101 south of 680 as I frequently head up to the Pleasanton area and there is nothing on my way back. (on the way up I usually head through San Juan and stop at Vertigo).

I was able to stop in at Avid and have an espresso today. As said earlier, they use Verve beans (Chromatic for decaf). Batista had to pull my shot a couple of times to get dialed in right. Espresso had a slightly sharp acidity, good sweetness, some floral tones. Texture was a little thin (but I'm being picky, it was pretty good, I'll go back). Decor in the cafe is a little lacking, something I think time will solve. They have a large space and eventually they will get it filled. Didn't have anything other than espresso, noticed they brew coffee with v60 (and use a chemex as a decanter). Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely will go back (but will be at Chromatic more). The space has a lot of potential.

Stopped by this morning for a pour-over of the El Salvador (La Palma, I believe) and a shot of Sermon and a nice scone. The coffee was very good with nice berry fruit flavors and the espresso was good. As other's have mentioned the decor is minimal at this stage and they still have the Almaden Roasters signage up, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. The employees were quite friendly and helpful to customers, but also stood back and didn't interrupt me when I was sitting at my table checking my phone.

I was just in there today and they painted one of the walls and added some art. It's in the process of really coming together. I saw that they are starting to offer breakfast on the weekends now with a choice of some different crepes and they're starting to bring in live music acts next month. Oh yeah, the coffee is great too. I used to go to Bellano's and liked it there, but this is a much more convenient location for me, I like the space, and I really appreciate the knowledge of the baristas when I've had questions or when they've been telling me about a new offering.
