We will be hosting the Bay Area Home Coffee Roasters Society every month from now on. We may move it to a different saturday so we can still have our usual cuppings but it will be every month from now on at the same time.
So come one come all. Even if you do not want to roast while you are here bring your roaster anyway. I have talked to so many people who have never seen any other roaster machine besides their own. If we all bring ours we can all get a glimpse of all the machines out there.
Also we will be roasting out front on the patio after we do a batch on our Probat. That way the smoke will just blow away outside.

Hi Andy,
Have you deceided what you are roasting that morning? I would like to come and buy some, roast it, and bring it in to compare if that is OK.
For the "roast off" portion of the event will we all be using the same beans?
Phil

We will roast our Finca Vista Guatemala for sure. Not sure what else we will roast. But if everyone who wanted to roasted the FVH Guat that would be pretty fun to sample out.
Remember we always sell any green for half the price of roasted in any quantity you want.

This was very fun... I didn't expect much from the first meeting but there was a lot to talk about and a lot to learn. I am downloading pics to CD as we speak... more info later ( I am drinking Mexican Plumas the coffee I roasted on Saturday during the meeting... 72 hours later it has seemed to get even more complex with time)
I enjoyed myself thoroughly... hopefully others will post there thoughts.....
DOM...evil genius ...Up to no good in espresso at all times... VIVA la parts de Espresso

OK so here is my rundown:
It was way more interesting and fascinating than I even imagined. I LOVED seeing all the different home roasters raosting away and watching the roasting process. it is SOOOOO different from our Probat roaster in profile but similar in technique and concept. We are shopping for a sample roaster and were very happy to see several types. Next month I would love to have at least four people roasting. We will spend less time roasting on our machine and more time roasting on the home roasters.
The absolute highlight was by far the Dr Chaos demonstration by the amazing Phil! He was seriously juggling six different devices to roast his 4 ounces of coffee. It was an amazing sight to behold and made the entire day.
We are going to have this every month so lets get some more people out.
Next month i want to see the heat gun-dog bowl roaster, the BBQ roaster, the popcorn popper roaster and another small home roaster.
We will all roast the same coffee to the same level 2 days before the meeting and doa tasting.
Anyone want to make it a different day than the last saturday?
