CHICAGO, IL, Sep 22, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- From Chicago to New York, interested coffee entrepreneurs and lifelong espresso connoisseurs alike are lining up for Intelligentsia Coffee's barista trainings and cuppings. At the hands-on trainings, the art of a good Chicago coffee takes about 3 hours. During that time, the friendly and knowledgeable Intelligentsia staff guides students though the finer points of coffee making from choosing the right beans to properly steaming the milk.

Variety remains the spice of life. The selection of the perfect coffee beans to create a favorite espresso or cappuccino makes no exception to the rule. In addition to learning the ABCs of espresso making students indulge in a sensory overload, sampling a multitude of coffee bean styles and flavors and learning more about other espresso based drinks.

Overachievers among the group may opt to arrive early for a complimentary one-hour tour of the facility and training lab. After the successful completion of the seminar, students are gifted a pound of Black Cat or Decaf Black Cat coffee to start creating their own coffee masterpieces.

As the weather cools, look for upcoming barista trainings in Chicago on October 15 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. New Yorkers are scheduled to enjoy an evening of coffee and spirits to launch the New York Cupping and Training Lab on Wednesday, September 24th at 7:00PM at the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe.

New Yorkers may also enjoy weekly cuppings held most Thursdays at 11 AM. Upcoming cupping dates are: September 25 and October 2, 23, and 30, 2008. Cuppings are a great way to meet fellow coffee lovers and sample new crop coffees and direct trade coffees in addition to a variety of the best organic coffee available on the market today.

Moving across the country is the Intelligentsia California coffee house where residents return day after day for the best coffee in Los Angeles. Food Writer Carolline Kim recently noted, "Like its counterpart in Chicago, the Silver Lake location goes for substance rather than flash, and offers a seemingly simple menu of espressos that maintain the freshness found in the fields. Everything is executed to perfection."
