The First in a New Line of Sustainable Quadra-Seal™ Coffees


In January 2004, Vancouver-based Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company Inc. (SWDCC) is launching its “Quadra-Seal™” brand of Organically Certified, Fair Trade Certified™, shade-grown SWISS WATER® Process decaffeinated green coffees.  The first offering to fall under the Quadra-Seal™ brand will be Cascadia Blend™.

"The Quadra-Seal™ concept is all about looking at the future of the coffee business,” notes Ben Hieltjes, vice president of sales at SWDCC. “Organic, Fair Trade, shade-grown and chemical-free decaf are all categories that are on the rise. With Quadra-Seal, we're providing consumers with an all-in-one proposition. We believe this is a platform that will be very well received and worth building on in the future."

SWISS WATER® Process Organic Cascadia™ Blend decaf is a multi-origin blend of coffees selected for consistency in quality and supply. "We're proud to present our newest offering,” says SWDCC’s Green Coffee Buyer Diana Chan. “The cup has a pleasing balance of wonderful, lasting body, with highlights of sweetness and acidity. Customers will find that this is versatile enough to work as an espresso or house blend."

“Once a niche market, the organic segment has grown to the point where it is now a mainstream component of the coffee business,” explains Hieltjes. “As a certified organic decaffeinator, we receive a constant stream of inquires from customers looking for organic decaf.”   Eventually the demand became so great that SWDCC decided to make the move to add an organic blend to its list of regular product offerings.
