Detailed Commentary
this machine does exactly what it's supposed to do, consistently. i sprained my wrist and decide to buy an autotamp because i was having trouble tamping by hand. it took a few days of adjusting grind to match the tamping pressure but since then it's been almost too easy. i was evidently using too much pressure by hand and my girlfriend didn't use enough. it made for some interesting espresso at times. with the autotamp we both are making great coffee drinks.
the instructions are simple and after a few days anyone should have an easy time with this device. it may take you a few days to get your grind set correctly but other than that i made no changes in the way i make espresso. i took a couple of days getting everything dialed in because i was using black cat, then i switched to the bag that came with the machine, and then back to black cat. when i first started using the autotamp i had to adjust for the black cat, then i went back to my old baseline mark for the new bag of coffee, that didn't work and i ended up back at the setting i had used for the black cat. same with the next bag. i guess it took a few days to realize that my tamping pressure in the past had a lot to do with my current grind setting not working. once i sorted that out it's been as easy as it gets.
Buying Experience
i purchased this online and received it in about a week. no problems at all. i even got a bag of coffee to try out.
Three Month Followup
still works great
One Year Followup
after 1 year i'm still very satisfied with this product. it works exactly as advertised. it also removes one more variable from the espresso equation, tamp pressure.
