Positive Product Points

I have yet to roast my first batch of coffee on the Behmor, and yet I am so pleased with my decision to purchase this roaster. I know from what others have said this roaster does a fine job of roasting coffee. What has amazed me is the outstanding level of service and dedication Joe and his crew have in supporting customers.

Negative Product Points

The controls are not intuitive however the instructions are straight forward.

Please read Detailed Commentary.

Detailed Commentary

After reading the reviews on Sweet Maria's and Coffee Geek I decided to purchase a Behmor 1600.

My unit arrived yesterday Thursday Dec 13th at 5:00 PM UPS.

I open the box take out the roaster - check it out / fit and finish look good /  let it warm up to room temp as I read the instructions.

7:00 PM  - Behmor is at room temp - time for the Dry Burn" as per instructions.

Plug in the machine press 1/4 pound - Start  (then the light)

I get a flash of light and a POP ! ( light is burned out) Push Stop / unplug machine.

O' well not the first time I've seen a light bulb blow when first turned on.

OK - Lets do the Dry Burn and then roast some coffee, I can always order a replacement light. There customer service is good ... Right ???

Start Dry Burn and things go well until 2min 30sec when the roaster shuts off and I get a Error code 4. Not good. (The causes of an Error 4 can either be a bad draw fan, bad/ loose connection, or malfunctioning front panel.)

8:30 PM Thursday - I send an email to Joe AKA  tahoejoe and tell him what happened. Ask for some repair parts and some help walking me through the process. I hope to hear back in a few days.

6:30 AM Friday morning I check my email and find a reply from Joe he sent at 3:50 AM while I'm sleeping. Joe writes "My apologies but based on what you describe it would be totally unfair to ask you to repair. Please email bob at tech@behmor.com explain what occurred and I'll discuss this with him in the morning."

Make some coffee and check my other email. Bob has already contacted me via email in which he says they are sending me out a new Behmor that very day.

Gentleman, from the time UPS  delivered the machine that malfunctioned until I receive word I am being shipped out a new unit is a time span of aprox 12 hours. This time of year you can't get through check out at Wal-Mart that fast.

If your thinking of buying a Behmor 1600 --- Just do it !  The company has your back. And when all is said and done that's what really counts.

Thanks to all on this site who have taken the time to write about there experience with Behmor 1600 roaster. Your experience was the deciding factor in my purchase of this product and Joe and his crew at Behmor have validated my choice in a roaster.

Buying Experience

I decided to buy from Burman in Middleton WI as it is close and would offer the fastest delv.  Hard not to buy from Sweet Maria's but it was the distance that made the differance.

Three Month Followup

Did not review at 3 months --- Machine working fine

One Year Followup

One year already, I was drinking coffee made from beans roated in the Behmor when I checked my email this morning and read the notice it was time for review.  Not much to report realy, The Behmor contines to work perfect.  I do make sure my beans are at room temp (winters are cold here and my green bean storage area can drop into the mid 50's)  I find I've stopped playing around with the settings -most often I use 1 pound - A - P3 and end when second crack starts. Often I will do two batches.   Very pleased with my Behmor.

I'm pleased I purchased this product.
