Detailed Commentary
This is not the first steel/glass coffee mug that I have ever owned, but it is my favorite. The ARMUG (designed by Aldo Rossi, made by Allessi) is among the best of this style of cups ever made. I own several now, and I am on a long term mission to build my collection with the best designs available of these steel/glass cups.
To begin, Aldo is very well known in the design world, and has such other applicable greats as the "La Conica" (1984) Expresso maker, "La Cupola" (1989) Expresso maker, and the "Il Conico" (1986) kettle, creamer & sugar bowl set. Thus, it hardly seems surprising that our buddy Aldo also designed "ARMUG" (!991), a coffee cup to further enhance the coffee drinking experience.
For me, this style of cup is the best way to fully experience a coffee experience. This cup in particular is so sturdy, that I throw it in my dishwasher for almost daily cleaning. After several years, the glass starting showing some surface etching effects, but no matter as I will either treat the glass in the interim, and/or replace the glass (eventually).
Style is subjective, but I feel this is the overall best design of this style cup on the market today (or, at leat of those I have seen and owned to date).
As an aside, Aldo Rossi/Aleessi also made a "ARMUG" matching coffee maker (press style) and expresso cups "ARDT SET"
Buying Experience
Although internet purchasing is a kind of leap of faith, these items do not usually show up at any nearby stores. This is one cup I am glad I purchased.
