Coffee tastes better.

You have to clean it after each use.
You need a coarser grind of coffee, so you use up more coffee.

Detailed Commentary

The 'swissgold' permanent goldfilter cost me about fl. 40,- ($ 17).
I think coffee made with this filter tastes better than paper filters, but to taste the difference
you need fresh coffee. If you want to get the most out of your drip machine, you want a gold
filter.
