Detailed Commentary

I was hesitant at first to review a cup that is no longer made, but as they are so widely available through eBay, they might well be some of the easier cups to get your hands on.  And when you do get your hands on them, you'll know immediately why they're so wonderful.  These are the classic diner cups of the 50's and 60's.  They are built for commercial use, much moreso than the food service quality cups available today.

First of all, they are a great size.  I found a set of 4 cups of saucers, in the white with red trim design, for $4 at a local antique shop.  These four cups perfectly hold the brew from my 5 cup Hario Nouveau.  As well, they don't look empty with a single cappucino.  This is so nice when entertaining, needing to produce drinks for more than 2 people.

These cups are so substantial.  I am sure if I tossed one across the room right now, I'd leave a hole in the wall, but the cup would be undamaged.  These cups will be in my arsenal 25 years from now (at least if I insist on throwing them).  The walls are the thickest I've seen on this size cup.

These cups also just feel great in your hand.  Maybe its nostalgia, maybe its just the weight, but they are really a joy to hold.  When I use these to serve coffee from my Hario, friends tell me how much they love my cups, just as often as they tell me how cool my coffee maker is, or how great the coffee is.

I have much more expensive cups made specifically for cappucino, but none hold a candle.

A search on eBay will bring up literally dozens of these at any given time, and rarely for more than I paid for them.  Give them a try, you'll see what I mean.

Buying Experience

Picked them up while browsing the local antique stores.
