The Fresh Roast was my first and only roaster. It was given to me by a fellow coffee geek who was importing organinc beans and asked me to try it. I have to tell you ...I'm hooked... My wife and I have roasted at least weekly for the last 2 1/2 years and the Fresh Roast is still going strong. We have the original 6 minute version and the newer models go to 8 minutes, but unless you like brewed charcoal stick to less time. Also be aware of ambient tempratures and roast outside unless you want to make your house reek. Once you have gone through the 1st crack, get it to the cooling cycle fast or you will have black beans. Remember, if there is smoke, there will soon be fire. You do have to be careful and watch your time and listen. My experience shows that 3 1/2 - 4 minutes should give you a nice full city roast but do not forget to use the cooling cycle and dump the beans into a collander to cool further. Coffee from Sweet Marias and Cafe Imports have always been good and service is great too.

Three Month Followup
WhenI wrote the original review I have had the machine for 2 years. Since writing I have replaced the roasting chamber to the larger one and it works fine.
