Detailed Commentary
I have the FreshRoast +8. Just to be fair, I am using a 20 amp Variac with this roaster. I find it very easy to use and repeatability is not an issue with me. I have also installed a $8 analog dial probe thermometer that goes down into the roasting chamber to about where the beans end up at the final stage of the roast. I drink coffee only and brew with a French Press, a bodum columbia. My roasts are taken into 8.5 to 9.5 minutes that get me the City+ thru the Full City+ ranges . I have also purchased a second chamber so I could do back to back roasting with less than 10 minutes cooling time. If you want to take the plunge into roasting, this is definitely recommended . Easy to hear the first crack and 2nd on most beans. I used to buy my coffee freshly roasted and it was wonderful. Now it is just WOW.
