Pricey for what it is. The Expresso machine manufacturing industry should change the way they do business. If you are spending $400+ on a machine, a good tamper should be included with the machine - NOT a $0.25 plastic tamper.
Detailed Commentary
When I oppened the box, the first thing I saw was not a tamper, but a work of art. The pictures in all websites do not do justice to the incredible craftmanship that went into the manufacturing process of this tamper. The quality of the African Rosewood handle, the perfectly polished stainless steal come together precisely, providing perfect form and fuction.
Once you pick it up and wrap your hand around it, you will realize that the Reg was designed for solid, perfect packing of grounds in your PF. At 13 ounces it practically does the packing for you. (Yes, stainless steel makes a difference vs. the aluminum version - so if your going to spring for a good tamper, go for the stainless!)
A quick work of advice, keep out of the reach of children. My 8 year old child had a little fight with his older brother. Guess what he picked up from the kitchen counter and threw across the kitchen? Enough said. As luck would have it, noboby was injured (with the reg - they still went at it with their fists) and the reg survived the crash without a scratch or dent. This is a Solid product.
