Initially purchased this unit due to its "smokless" design, and soon realized that although a traditional roaster does produce more smoke, this particluar model was far from smokless, especially when roasting to espresso or french. Cleaning was difficult, and in order to eliminate residual buildup, the unit had to be taken apart, which for the less mechanically inclined, would not be something I would suggest. For the amount this roaster was used (4 times per week), I was really expecting to get more than 150 roasts out of it before it quit.
Since failure of the product and utter lack of customer service in attempting to resolve this failure, I have moved onto a higher capacity unit, which although not smokless, produces a much more even roast.
If you can find this unit, or its successor, I would be hard pressed to recommend it, even to someone looking to enter the home roaster "club"
Buying Experience
Purchased in September of 2005 directly from the creator of the product, who I later found out was the same outfit that produces products like OrangeGlo. Was delivered within a reasonable amount of time, and in perfect condition.
