Positive Product Points

The Bezzera BZ07pDE is easy to use and set-up, and the espresso is excellent.

Negative Product Points

The placement of the hot water wand is not great,  (Badly placed between head and steam spout), but hey I did not buy it for Hot Water.  But it is the only reason I did not give this machine 9 to 10 in every Category.

Detailed Commentary

Hot espresso with a great Crema.  This unit has a PID, (proportional–integral–derivative controller), temperature control on heat exchanger boiler.  PID controls are widely used in industrial control systems, and PID controllers are the best controllers for this application.  Bought this machine on recommendation of someone from at 1st-line equipment when the other machine I was thinking about buying was sold out.  Had a sunbeam espresso machine that my mother in-law bought me many years ago.  The espresso was never hot enough and if you tamped it to 30lbs, it would not work.  Bought a super auto from De’Longhi that I had to return because it did not work, glad it did not work now.  The Bezzera BZ07pDE has a good cup warmer, machine is easy to use and set-up, and the espresso is excellent.  Hot espresso with a great Crema, this is a great machine.  The Machine looks great, all high quality stainless steel, no cheap plastic.  The espresso is much better than what Starbucks makes, (I know that would not take much).  Save your money and buy a good machine like this one.

Buying Experience

Great service and very friendly sales help on the phone.  Wow, great recommendation 1st-line, the machine works as great as it looks.  No comparison to my old machine, it is true you get what you pay for. http://www.1st-line.com

Three Month Followup

Still love the machine, use it every day.  I thought the noise was a little too loud at first, but I considered that a trade off for the pump power.  I can make espresso and steam at the same time with no problem.  I do not do this often since I like my espresso straight.  It is nice when we have company, or my wife wants a fancy coffee drink not have to wait for the machine to recover.  I was surprised at how fast it heats up, I can turn it on brush my teeth and it is hot and ready to go.  It also stays hot for a long time I have found out, if I turn it off to go shopping and return an hour or two later the wait time is almost nonexistent.  My wife loves the hot water for instant drinks, (not a reason to buy if you ask me), but the spout for the hot water is placed badly.  I paired this with a Maestro grinder that I bought at the same time, now I know some people do not like this model grinder but if you follow the directions, you will not have any problems.  Being a HVAC/R and commercial kitchen service business owner, my home humidity does not change much at all.  Therefore, I do not have to make many changes to the grind setting often.  Still I would not buy this grinder again if I had it to do over, I will upgrade later this year.  Back to the rest of the espresso machine review.  The water tank is very large which is nice, and the temperature on this model is perfect with the PID temperature control being a control usually found on industrial equipment.  Bought this machine on recommendation from 1st-line and have not been disappointed.

One Year Followup

Interesting that the 1-year review would come due this day of all days.  This morning like most days, my wife was using the hot water dispenser to make some foul instant coffee beverage.  I notice after she was done that the machine was off and asked why she turned it off.  She answered that she had not turned it off.  Turns out the ground fault circuit breaker had tripped, and it would not reset at first.  Had to unplug the espresso machine and wait a few minutes.  Then I reset the breaker and plugged the machine back into the wall outlet a few minutes later.  It appears that all of the steam from the bad placement of the hot water dispenser caused some moisture to get into the electric causing the problem.  Alternatively, it could be that when she filled the reservoir up she got careless and some water got into areas it should not.  The espresso machine is still making great espresso.  I use Miscelad’oro Espresso Gran Crema brand beans for my espresso.  The machine is easy to clean and care for, I will keep you posted on the ground fault issue.  I have lowered my rating due to the bad placement of the hot water dispenser.
