I chose this machine as it was, in my opinion, the best value in it's class. So far, I haven't been dissapointed!
Positive Product Points
Good looking, solidly built E61 machine, good value for money, levers are neat!
Negative Product Points
Steam power is taking some getting used to
Detailed Commentary
Upgrading from Silvia, I looked at quite a few HX machines. Chose the Magica as I feel it's the best value for money in it's price range. I didn't find any compelling reason to spend the extra on a QM or Rocket machine but I wanted the all SS look. So far, I'm getting pretty good consistency with espresso performance- still learning the machine but it hasn't been as challenging as I expected. Packaging was very secure- I'd say there is little to no chance of shipping damage. Build and finish is very high quality. Stem and hot water levers are a nice feature. Drip tray is a good size. I read some people didn't like removing the cup warming tray to fill the machine- I personally think this is a benefit. The rails hold my cups securely in place when moving and I think it's easier to remove the whole tray vs a bunch of cups to access a hatch to fill the water. Steaming power is insane compared to Silvia! I've had to do the toothpick trick to block 2 of the 4 holes and will buy a different tip soon. Would have been nice to see this included. (as an aside, what is the deal with the plastic tamper included with the almost $1.6k machine? Are there any machines out there that include something you'd actually want to use instead of throw out as soon as you unpack it??)
Buying Experience
Idrinkcoffee in Milton was very good to buy from but they were a bit slow to respond to follow up emails though dealt with my concerns to my satisfaction. They were the best of all the stores I contacted when doing my research. They clearly took some time to answer my questions and came back with some good info that helped me narrow down my choices. Richard was very knowledgeable; good advice without trying to upsell. They have a ton of machines to play with in store so if you're trying to decide between different models, they're a good choice.

Still extremely happy with this machine. Consistent results and no issues whatsoever. Went with a 3 hole steam tip long term as it's easier to deal with small volumes of milk vs the stock tip.
