After getting tired of Starbuck's and these cafes never getting my morning espresso beverages right, I decided to make the investment and buy my own machine. After reading reviews and evaluating different models, I decided on either the Rancilio Silvia or the Bezzera BZ02S Semi-Automatic. Price difference is about $200, but with espresso machines it seems you really do get what you pay for. For the value, this is perfect machine for the home, office or small restaurant. This machine produces commercial quality results and it doesn't take much to learn how to use it. I haven't made an espresso beverage since my college days of waiting tables 15 years ago. After buying this machine, I was making perfect shots the first time around. It also makes a host of other beverages like hot chocolate, tea, and just about anything that calls for steamed/warm milk or boiling water. The steamed milk feature came with a commercial tip that had to be changed because for home use it steamed milk so quick after 15 seconds that it would burn. It was more ideal for steaming larger quantities of milk at one time. It was replaced by a tip for home use that steams milk in 20-25 seconds. Nonethelessl it is a great, powerful steamer. Overall it is a fantastic machine for the home user looking for a quality machine for the long term.
Buying Experience
Outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Vaneli's. I live about 35 miles from their store so I made the visit to see their product line. I was presented with a demonstration of the Bezerra and a Quickmill model similar to the Silvia (my other choice if the Bezerra did not work out). It was great to see how the machines work before buying and the staff really took the time to address all of my questions and concerns without any rush or pressure to buy. If anyone is interested in an espresso machine and is near the Sacramento area, Vaneli's is worth the visit.
