Steam wand could use some improvement-requires practice and skill to froth well
Detailed Commentary
I have owned my ECM Giotto espresso machine since 2003 and have used it virtually every day with great pleasure. Like any semi-automatic machine, it takes a little practice to determine the fineness of the grind, the tamping pressure, and other factors that work best with the machine. Once this exploratory phase is complete, the ECM consistently produces a sweet, russet espresso that is more like a meal than a drink. My favorite espresso blends are the Lavazza coffees available through 1st Line(my favorite is "Top Class") or at retail Lavazza stores ("Gold Selection"). Frothing with the ECM takes a measure of skill and a bit of practice. Finally, the machine is built to last. With regular back-flushing, (and periodic de-scaling) the sweetness and clarity of the espresso is preserved year after year. A great investment for home or office.
