Detailed Commentary

I won't repeat all the features of this machine which are listed on Chris' web site, but just wanted to say I have owned this machine and used it daily for the past 6 months.  Compared to my old ECM Giotto machine, it is even better with double boiler, powerful steam control, and PID temperature control.   It is easy to make really excellent espresso (I have been enjoying both Klatch's FTO House Espresso and Peet's Major Dickason's lately).   Another plus is that it is so much easier to take apart to do minor adjustments (pressure setting for instance) than the ECM Giotto was.  She's a beauty!  I would recommend putting it on a timer so it is already heated up when you wake up in the morning.  Also strongly recommend getting a VST basket or two.  Lastly I put a Sproline Foam Knife Steam Tip on mine (needed to switch out the steam wand for a La Marzocco wand for it to fit) to get even better foaming (I use soy milk, so this helped a lot; probably not necessary to replace tip but this is a very nice one).  I would very highly recommend this machine!

When I turn the water temperature up to 203 degrees F.  (usually I leave it on 200), there is a fair bit of temperature oscillation.  I am not an expert but I think this is the result of the PID controller and I am not sure that more temperature stability is available on other brand machines.

Buying Experience

I purchased this machine from Chris Coffee.   Over the more than 10 years I have done business with them, Chris Coffee has always been a fantastic place to purchase espresso machines and accessories.  The machine arrived promptly with all the parts I ordered, and with very helpful documentation.  What few questions  I had were promptly and helpfully responded to by email or phone contact with their very helpful technical support folks.
