The previous review covered most of the details, so let me add come comments on my personal experience.
I am totally and completely satisfied with this machine. It is beautifully constructed, a pleasure to use, and has been flawless for the past month of ownership.
Appearance is subjective, but this machine looks great on the countertop. Initially it seemed big and commercial, but after a few days it blended in well. It's a joyous sight to behold when you enter the kitchen!
I find the digital controls for brew temperature particularly *fun*. It's interesting to experiment with different temperature settings, and the S1 makes that a snap.
The only annoyance is the vibration produced by the various trim panels. I made an attempt, as have others, to quiet the machine with some strategically placed foam. However, it seems when I damp the vibration in one place, it moves elsewhere. That having been said, this machine is still quieter than a vibe pump machine. It's just that it is so elegant otherwise that the vibration issue stands out.
Having a plumbed machine is so convenient... I'll never go back. Chris at Chris Coffee supplied the necessary hardware for the plumb using high quality flexible pipe and components. It was really easy to plumb since Chris went through the install with me and figured out what components were required. He even had me snap a few digital pictures of the install location just so he could be certain. What service!
Buying Experience
Yet another glowing review of Chris at Chris Coffee. He went out of his way to insure that I received what I needed, and spent a lot of time with me on the phone discussing the machine. Clearly for Chris, selling these machines to those of us passionate about Espresso is a labor of love.
Chris also left me with the comfortable knowledge that he would be there to help should I have a problem. I've never dealt with a comapny more concered with my satisfaction. I would not hesitate to use his outstanding company for future purchases.
