Detailed Commentary
Paid a lot of money for the only(?) example of the Elli in Japan.
There isn‘t that much to say about the performance. It works and it‘s built to last.
Some people don‘t like the looks, but form follows function. It looks like an espresso machine and that‘s what I like.
Ergonomics is another matter. The drip tray in particular is an appalling piece of (non) design that can‘t be emptied when full or nearly full without spilling some of the contents back into the casing. Attempts to clean the casing afterwards generally lead to fingers being sliced on razor-sharp internal edges. And what is the power cord doing coming out of the front of the machine underneath (and in the path of) the drip tray?
Still, Elli would be boring if she didn‘t have her little quirks.
